Some people drink crystal water to improve their overall health and wellbeing. You are probably one of them. In this case you should find out which crystals are suitable for water charging, because there are, however, crystals that should not be put into the water.

First of all, you should avoid any crystals that contain lead or copper, such as malachite, azurite, chalcopyrite, galena, amazonite, mohawkite or turquoise. Aluminum is also found in some gemstones and should be avoided. These include aquamarine, garnet, labradorite, ruby, sapphire and all other stones of the “beryl group”: bixbyite, heliodor, goshenite, emerald and morganite.

That doesn’t mean you can’t use the stones mentioned above at all, but you can’t put them directly in the water.

• Smoky quartz – in shades of brown, this member of the quartz family is associated with home, nature and stability.

If you want to use a crystal that is not mentioned in the list, then you can use an indirect method of water recharge. Simply place the crystal around the water bottle instead of putting it directly into the water.

Note: It is generally accepted that most stones in the quartz and citrine families can be safely added directly to the water.

Here are the steps for charging crystal water …

Take the time to rinse the crystal by placing it under running water or gently scrubbing it with a toothbrush. It’s okay to use a little soap as long as you rinse the stone all the way off. You may also want to “cleanse” it by leaving it in the sun for a few hours. It doesn’t have to be direct sunlight. Once your crystal is clean, take the time to charge it with your intentions. What would you like to use this particular stone for? Which of its properties would you like to benefit from? It’s okay if you take full advantage of all of its properties and the benefits it offers.

Experts recommend using glass jars with lids. For obvious reasons, it’s always better to use spring water and avoid tap water. Only use tap water when you have no alternative and cannot go to a store to buy natural or spring water. It is debatable whether distilled water should ever be used, with the answer to this question being rather negative.

Don’t just leave the glass jug filled with spring water in the sunlight, but also leave the stones or crystals you have chosen standing around the jug or on the lid. You don’t need to put them in the sunlight for at least three or four hours. The stones that are unsuitable for direct water charging should not be put in them at all.

Note: The stones that you put in the bottle should not be left in the bottle permanently. Leave them in for a while, then take them out.

Try to imagine in your mind’s eye bright lights falling from the crystals through the jar or lid into the water. It helps to meditate for a few minutes.

Some additional tips for charging water with crystals

You can also use moonlight instead of sunlight to charge the water and stones – especially on new moon or full moon nights. Ideally, wait until the new moon to recharge the crystal water if you want to use it to bring something new into your life. Full moon charging is ideal when the intention is to increase something in your life, such as positive energy or happiness. If you can’t wait until a full moon or new moon, then do the sunlight method.

Once you get your intentions, you may find it helpful to write them on a small piece of paper, and then tape that paper to the glass.

You can drink the charged water or pour it into the bathtub and bathe with it

There are several methods of charging bath water with crystal energy. You can either pour a few drops of the charged water from the bottle into your tub and mix it with the bath water, or you can actually add the stones to the tub. You can also have them in your hands if you want. Sit down and relax for at least 10 minutes to soak up the energy. Say your intention over and over like a mantra. Don’t forget to take out the stones before unplugging!

Combine different crystals

You can certainly add more than one stone to your water, as long as they go well together. Carnelian and clear quartz are a good combination if you want to be successful in the workplace. Carnelian will give you a boost of energy and creativity, and the clear quartz will help your focus. Lapis lazuli and rose quartz are a good combination for any crystal water elixir that is used to find a new love or to strengthen an existing relationship.
