Build the garden grill yourself
Suitable place for the grill
Before you build the grill yourself, you should first find the right place for it. Ideally, this should be in the immediate vicinity of your home. After all, you have to carry products around all the time. Do not forget to align the system appropriately with regard to the wind. The questions that would be important in this context are mainly the following:
Where should the smell go?
Which side should the burning material be on? Because this has to be shielded so that the fire does not get there. Basically, the removal of trees and grass is also strongly recommended, so that the safety of all people around is guaranteed.

In which form do you want to build the garden grill?
Prepare the base
Start now with the preparation of the base for the installation of the fireplace. First, you would have to dig out the corresponding area by 10 cm. Then lay out the wooden beams. These should be around 15 cm thick. Make a concrete mix with water and cement. A layer of approx. 8 cm must be on top. In the middle of this there has to be a small groove. After this stage, you should be patient and wait 48 hours before you can continue with the rest of the project.
The next stage to which you have to move on when making a brick-built barbecue is planning. First, the amount needs to be determined. Ideally, this should be between 70 cm and one meter. The oven should be four to four inches below it. Some projects also include some stages in which you put the necessary tools.
Brick barbecue – do you want one in your garden too??
Step by step
Now build the brick grill yourself step by step. Put in two layers of bricks without working them in any way. They have to be correctly positioned on the concrete surface. Make a note of where the bricks should go in a manner that you can understand.
Dry bricks are best sprayed with water before they are permanently attached. Specialists advise that this be done even a day before the construction process. This is how the bricks retain their moisture, but the surface will be dry.
Make a plan at the beginning
Now you need mortar. You can actually do this yourself. For this purpose, it is best to mix hydroxyl lime, portland cement and coarse sand. Add enough water. The finished mixture should have the consistency of slime.
Put in the first layer of bricks, making sure that the mortar does not go beyond the limits you have in mind. Fill in the gaps between the bricks with some of the mixture. In the end, you should get a healthy and solid base.
Get the tools you need
Now continue building your own barbecue using the same principle.
After laying out each brick, you should press on it with a heavy object
Now remove the excess mixture from the bricks.
For every 3-4 rows, make sure the bricks are straight and see that the walls are straight. This stage can also be used to work on the welding elements. This is done in a horizontal and vertical order. This will help the mortar penetrate into the gaps in the bricks. This is how the grill that you build yourself simply looks a lot more attractive at the end of the day.
Arrange the bricks
Put some metal rods between the different rows of bricks. These must be perfectly adapted to the design of the grill and its height. They not only firmly support the grill, but also ensure a very attractive appearance.
Cutting from the bricks
We advise you to choose a model of the grill that you can build yourself from the start, which requires minimal force for the final removal. However, no matter how well you meet this requirement, you certainly cannot completely avoid the need for brick-cutting. When it comes to just a piece or two, you can risk some mechanical methods. Otherwise, it is best to use an electric cutting device.
The final rows are made from solid bricks. Then withdraw and enjoy the completely new barbecue area!
We also wish you a wonderful summer and many pleasant hours on your own brick barbecue outdoors!
