When it comes to room or garden design, or when looking for fresh furnishing ideas, one finds the same thing over and over again: Clearly too little value is placed on the effect of light and the design with light and color. In terms of design, imaginary spaces and a magical atmosphere can only be created with light, if only one would look at one’s surroundings more intensively and attentively.

Today we are actually going to tackle this not so difficult, but sensitively, subject. And so that you can develop your sensitivity and encourage even more, we start with something relatively simple and natural – namely – with tinkering with the lantern. We have attached practical instructions on how you can make your favorite lanterns yourself.
We decided on this topic for two reasons: Firstly – it is a good exercise for visual perception and at the same time a cool DIY project in which tinkering with children, creating fancy garden decorations, lanterns from tin cans and even more creative upcycling Ideas are involved.
Let’s assume you simply have the perfect balcony, terrace or garden design! Have you ever seen them under the stars or at dusk? At night the world appears completely different and that is exactly what we use as a guide for our design with and from lanterns.

The lanterns enchant, calm us down and create a magical atmosphere in which time simply stands still. Making a tea light is easy and doesn’t take long. The result in the end is always effective and just imagine that there is a high probability that you already have everything you need for spontaneous tinkering of lanterns at home.

- Tin cans
- scissors
- Glue
- paper

Implementation of a paper lantern
Get one or more DIN A 3 sheets of paper and make sure that it is not thicker than 60g. Use the template below as a folding guide!
Using this simple principle, with a little help, you can create a whole series of lampignons and have a Midsummer Night’s Dream garden party. But let’s take a closer look at the sketch below:

This template is easy to work with! Either you make do with a computer program, prepare everything and have it printed out, or approach carefully with a pencil and a ruler and first fold the sheet of paper from each side as shown

So that the resulting lantern has an edge, follow the next steps! Better not do without the edge! It makes the lampignon more stable and perfect.
Be sure to use a paper glue! Any aggressive adhesive would curl the paper and thus lead to unevenness on the surface.

Cut, crease and glue carefully! Now we have created a space out of the paper surface. Make a square tube out of the sheet of paper and carefully fold the paper in the recommended places.

Now you only need to put a tea light in it and you can wait for the night when the magic of your lantern begins to work.

And while we’re on the subject of magic, you’ll get a video tutorial that will help you make lanterns
