Make cold porcelain yourself – the best recipe without cooking

There are already many blogs on the Internet that suggest different recipes for DIY cold porcelain. Some of these come with cooking, others with glue. Our recipe is pretty simple and is super quick to implement. No cooking is necessary. You can start with a smaller amount first if you are a beginner at crafting with cold porcelain.

Then you can do as much of it as you need to.

The ingredients:

• 4 tbsp wood glue
• 7 tbsp cornstarch
• 1 tbsp glycerine
• 1/2 tbsp white hand cream

The preparation:

1st step

First, put the glycerine, wood glue and hand cream in a large mixing bowl and mix the ingredients well with a mixing stick. Then gradually add the cornstarch and keep stirring. When the consistency is thick enough, start kneading by hand and add a little cornstarch if necessary.

2nd step

Continue kneading the cold porcelain for a while until the mass becomes completely smooth. It is better to massage some hand cream into your hands beforehand. So the modeling clay does not stick to it. Wrap the finished porcelain in cling film and place it in the refrigerator for about 30-40 minutes. The air-drying porcelain is then completely ready for use.

3rd step

With the help of a rolling pin, cutting board and cookie cutter you can make beautiful Christmas decorations in different shapes. Depending on the thickness, the figures are completely cured for a few hours or 1-2 days.

Drill small holes for hanging before it hardens

Not only filigree hearts stand beautifully on the Christmas tree, but also a lovingly crafted star garland made of cold porcelain and jute. Simply cut the stars with the matching cookie cutter and stamp the desired ornaments in them. In this case, all you need for handicrafts is: cold porcelain, cardboard template, wax paper, pencil, knife, filigree cookie cutter (asterisk).

And it’s that easy:

1st step

Take your DIY porcelain mass out of the cling film and roll it out on the work surface with the rolling pin. Draw out the cardboard templates shown above. Three different templates for three different sizes of fir trees.

2nd step

Using the wax paper, transfer the desired template onto the rolled out cold porcelain. Then place the wax paper on the porcelain and press the lines lightly with the pencil or other pointed object. Then cut them out with the knife.

3rd step

Decorate each cut out piece of cold porcelain with asterisks using the cookie cutter. You can of course also create other patterns.

4th step

Then carefully twist the ends of the porcelain dough towards each other in the shape of a cone and press the edge evenly with your fingers or a fork. Then let the fir trees air dry completely.
