Leaves by Patricia Urquiola for Kartell – Red upholstered sofa
Milan 2011: The Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola presented this small sofa with a plastic frame in the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan during the fashion week there.
Called foliage, the design features branch-shaped thermoplastic plastic legs and a seat made of polyurethane foam, covered with stretchy fabric, engraved with a leaf-shaped motif.
The leaves form a crown that rests on a frame of branches
Dialogue between natural conditions and fake leaves, the sofa clearly bears the graphic trademark of Patricia Urquiola, as an object that looks as if it has grown naturally in plastic. The leaves form a crown that rests on a frame of branches that practically form a seat. Blätterwerk is a sofa with a great personality, showing a seat with quilted embroidery on four round legs. Cozy and soft, Laubwerk offers two spacious seats. The stitching runs over the entire surface, as well as on the back, to make the sofa a stand-alone piece that can even be placed in the middle of a room and seen from all sides.
