Salt water pools cheaper in the long term
Having your own pool in the garden is a long-cherished dream for many, but it often fails when it comes to implementation. If you want to splash around in your own garden pool this summer, you should slowly think about it and start planning.
Immediately after the budget question comes the question of a fresh or salt water pool.
In Germany, people are used to the fact that the pools in the outdoor and indoor pools are filled with fresh water, which has been mixed with chlorine for disinfection. However, some people get skin and mucous membrane irritation from the chlorine used. In addition, the constant addition of chlorine is not exactly beneficial.

A good alternative is a saltwater pool. Here the water is kept naturally free of bacteria. The acquisition costs are generally somewhat higher, but the maintenance costs are cheaper in the long term. In addition to the classic pool accessories, the heart of a salt water pool is the so-called electrolysis device. In the pool shop there are different variants, depending on the size of the pool from 30 to 70 cubic meters. The systems are not exactly cheap, but can also be installed by laypeople without any problems. However, it is important to ensure that the materials used to build the pool are suitable for salt water. Both the panels and the pool wall, ladders, pumps and inlets and outlets must be made of salt water-resistant material.
Saltwater pools have a significantly lower salt content than you know from a vacation in the Mediterranean. The salt concentration there is 2 to 3 percent and can lead to dry skin and dried out hair. In the pool, on the other hand, there is a much lower concentration of only 3000 ppm, which corresponds to a percentage of 0.3. The electrolyser ensures that the salt is NaCl is broken down into its component parts and this is how natural chlorine is created. The chlorine values in salt water pools are more constant than in fresh water pools, which have to be regularly spiked with chlorine tablets. In spite of the conversion, there is no unpleasant chlorine odor in salt water pools.
