Chic living room furnishings – interior to suit every taste
Do you know the topic with the taste combination of two people in lovers? One likes the more modern and the other the classic interior design and one is looking for a combination of the two.
But that’s just one example, because the couples are super individual.
Is there a formula for combinations in the living room that applies to couples in general? That is the question we are trying to answer in this post.
The designers mostly use the 80/20 ratio when combining styles. But the harmony in a couple requires a balance of 50/50, sometimes 60/40, sometimes 40/60.
Relate the shapes to each other
In the first illustration, the success of the design is based on the unifying function of the organic forms. Therefore, despite the different styles, you have a uniform aura of tangible quality.
This chair is called the Womb Chair and is the work of the designer Eero Saarinen. It was invented in 1948. You can say that it combines different aspects of security. On the one hand it exudes comfort and on the other – it has survived the test of time.
You need to understand why your partner is attracted to one look or another. This is how you would be able to combine the two.
Compromise – In this case we have a room that is neither too modern nor too classic.
In the figure here we are dealing with a transition space. Are you both purists and want to enjoy the styles in their pure form? Then you should look past your previous ideas and look for something that you both like.
Perhaps you like classic things and your partner loves the modern look? Maybe you could cover the old furniture with new upholstery? Why not?
The stool here looks very chic with the neutral damask! The rest of the room shows a carefully considered mix of classic and modern elements.
Make sure you add strong and meaningful elements
The space was clearly traditional before the dark blue sofa was added. If your partner loves modern design, then one element alone could create the right mood for him (or her). In addition, the dark blue shade makes the look flush, as it balances out the strong effect of the carpet.
Repeat elements, relate them to each other and get the right mix
In the room shown here you will find a balanced mix of modern and traditional elements. The sofa and the chairs on the sides add variety.
However, if you look carefully, you would find an equivalent for every element in the room.
A combination 80/20
You could stick to this combination and achieve harmony. The 20 percent can simply be more meaningful, but more concentrated, and the 80 – more distributed, more subtle, but well distributed.
Do you agree? Who takes the 80% and who the 20%? Maybe that is the question?
